Well, thank heavens for a couple of catch up periods and the consultation offers from our team leaders. We’ve been mightily engaged in this area (Research Collections) for the last couple of weeks in preparing a funding application for an exciting website on Peace and War in the Twentieth Century. Essentially, we want the government to give us $98,000 to make it happen and had to make the application convincing. If we succeed, it will be wonderful exposure for some of our most important collections as well as a way to showcase some of the smaller and less well known ones – we also plan to work with community partners Canadian Warplane Heritage and Hamilton Public Library. Hence, I’ve not only not gone ahead on my etg assignments as planned, but am feeling somewhat left behind. I have looked at wikis; I’m on a committee to refine classrooms across campus and we’ve started a wiki to share and refine our policy statements. But my last day on campus before departure for Europe is next Tues., so I’m afraid I’m going to need an extension if I’m to have a hope of finishing the course!
